Hiking through the woods at Penny's Bend Trail recently, a couple of trees near the river caught my eye. To me they looked very much like a famous photo (Alfred Eisenstaedt's 1945 LIFE photograph) so I stopped and snapped a picture of the trees, to compare to what I was seeing in my mind's eye.

It's easy to see the resemblance when they are next to each other. Not everybody's mind's eye would've brought them together without a side by side comparison. Very good! Thanks for sharing.

next question: is that a woody?
His bark is worse than his bite?
I'm guessing that the "girl" tree is Penny, hence "Penny's Bend".
As someone said at the time, "This will probably look obvious posted online." I was looking at the wrong trees at the time (doh!), but now that I see the photos, I see exactly what you meant!
Yeah...it's not as odd as it seemed at the time. The lines are perfectly matched...perhaps Eisenstaedt lives in you!
